How Acupuncture Helped Me Recover from 9/11
My first time having acupuncture was in the months after September 11th. In 2001 I worked about a mile from Ground Zero, and the ever-present horrible smoke that filled the air made my asthma flare up seriously. I didn't want to go on steroid medications so I sought out an acupuncturist. Within a couple months of relaxing weekly sessions with painless needles and moxa (a warming herbal treatment), my breathing was back to usual, and the side effect was that my grief and anxiety from that traumatic day were also calmed. I'm forever grateful I found natural ways to strengthen my health and I get to share this wonderful medicine with others.
